Dear ISBC
Parents of Preschoolers,
We’re excited
to announce a new check-in policy beginning on Sunday, February 15, 2015 using
ACS. As a rule, ISBC Preschool Ministry
is open to accept children 15 minutes prior to each worship service. Children being dropped off in ISBC Preschool
Ministry must be accompanied by an adult.
In order for a child to be properly cared for, we must have adequate
information prior to the parent leaving ISBC Preschool Area.
Detailed
Instructions for Check-In will be provided by Sunday, February 8, 2015 in the following
two manners: A letter will be
distributed to all Parents of Preschoolers, and a video announcement will be
done both worship hours including step by step check-in procedures.
Note for Parents of Infants: Each parent must write in the “Here’s What I
Need Today” information on the Infant white board located inside the Infant
Room on the wall prior to leaving a child.
With several children in the room, this information is crucial for
keeping separate information and instructions on each child and ensuring the
transition between services is as smooth as possible between caregivers. While it may take a few minutes to complete,
it is well worth the time so we have adequate information.
Detailed Instructions for Pick-Up:
We would like to ask that only 1 adult(parent,
grandparent, aunt, uncle, etc.) come to pick up the child.
Please
give the identification tag to the caregiver of your child’s class.
Open Door Times:
Our ministry to
families begins with the needs of children, and having a predictable routine is
a necessity for a preschooler. We strive
to maintain the calmness of the classrooms by limiting drop off’s after
services have begun. Observing “closed
doors” allows our teachers to complete their lessons without interruption so
teaching time is maximized.
For infants and
toddlers, a door that is continually opened and closed can distress a
child-they see an open door and expect their parents to come through. This can be especially upsetting to a child,
especially if he/she’s is already fussy or is experiencing separation anxiety.
Our “open door” times are as follows:
Sunday’s Wednesday nights
9:15 am – 10:00
am 5:45 pm – 6:10
pm
10:45 am –
11:15 am
5:45 pm – 6:10
pm
If you need to
see your child or drop off your child during closed door times, please check-in
at the nursery desk. A ISBC Security
member or staff member will be glad to go back and check on your child or drop
them off in their class.
Exceptions to the Policy
Guests
A parent who has
been paged for any reason
A nursing
mother
Emergencies
In order for
any Preschool Ministry to be effective, guidelines must be established and
closely followed. If the guidelines are
ignored or the enforcement of them is inconsistent, then those we serve will
lose faith in our ability to care for their children, and fewer lives will be
impacted for God’s Kingdom.
Because we want
our Preschool Ministry to be above reproach we have established these new
guidelines. If you have any questions,
please don’t hesitate to contact Jeralyn or Cyrena.

Awana News
This week:
It's Thankful Night for all! Dress like something you
are thankful for.
This is the last week of the
November food drive. All food will be taken to the food pantry at the
Glenwood campus. The food pantry is especially in need of women's deodorant,
diapers, baby wipes, bar soap, toilet tissue, dryer sheets, laundry detergent,
dish detergent, all purpose cleaning supplies, also canned meats (salmon, tuna,
ham, Vienna Sausage and the like), crackers, soups and complete meals in a
box.
There is a friendly contest for grades K-6 between the boys and
girls to see who can bring in the most items.
** Remember our new rules **
Technology policy: All tech must be
put away at 6 PM. We prefer for it to be left with parents at that
time. If that is not an option, please have your child put it in their
bag or coat at 6. Awana leaders will have the right to collect any tech
that is out during club time and store it in the Awana office.
Parents can come by the office at the end of club time at 7:30 to pick up their
child's device.
Pick up for grades 2 and below:
For clubbers in K - 2nd: Only someone in grade 7 or older
should pick up.
For clubbers below grade K: Only someone age 16 or older should
pick up.
